Knowing what looks good on you is a skill that every woman needs to learn. There is nothing worse than seeing a woman in her 40’s dressed like she is in her 20’s and vice versa. The problem is many women are not in touch with their personal style. Are you into the classics? Do you like to stay in step with the latest trends? Do you have a flair for all things dramatic? What can I get away with wearing at my age? These are important questions one must ask themselves to find out what their personal style is. Remember, being able to accessorize is a vital part of your look. Your jewelry should compliment your style, not overload it. By following a few guidelines, you can create a look that exudes effortless style.

In your 20’s….This is a time when you can get away with wearing pretty much anything. A woman is just figuring out who she is during this time in her life. So, it is okay to experiment with different types of looks and try on the latest trends. Many designers direct their merchandise to your age group anyway. So, go ahead and have fun with your style. Once you have found it, take note. This look you have discovered could flow into your 30’s and become your signature style.

In your 30’s…Just because you are now in your 30’s doesn’t mean your sense of style has to morph into your mother’s to look more mature. This is a time to keep your keen sense of fashion that you discovered in your 20’s and make a few adjustments to compliment your maturity. You can still follow the latest trends but it needs to be more toned down. Your look should exude confidence and sophistication.  You are more in tune with your look now. You know what clothes suit you best; make sure your accessories advertise the same message. The goal in this decade of your like is to look more refined than you did in your 20s.

In your 40’s…..This is the time in your life where you know exactly what you want in life and exactly how you should look. This is a time where you can truly start celebrating the woman you have become. Your look should be more polished showing that you have a discerning sense of style. You can have fun with bold looks…but they should never resemble anything that you wore in your 20’s. Your style at this point should be completely effortless and your accessories need to accentuate that.

You’ve heard the saying “you only have one chance to make a first impression.” So, try to look great for your age at all times. Don’t get caught being the woman in the room that everyone is looking at, for all of the wrong reasons. Celebrate your personal growth as you age and your essence. When you look good, you feel good; it’s as simple as that.
