Its that time again where we introduce you to a fellow blogger, fashionista and jewelry aficionado. We are passionate about jewelry and we love hearing from our customers and members of the blogosphere about ttheir thoughts and feelings on the subject.
Lauren Herskovic is the managing editor or CollegeCandy.com. The website is “a witty source of both news and anecdotes that could be visited daily” where visitors can view “compulsive updates written by and for college women that will keep you abreast of awesomeness even when a Russian history paper has you caged to a computer.” Did we mention that she is really funny? She says her site covers “everything a college woman would ever want or need: fashion, beauty, relationships, college life, celebrity gossip, sex, pop culture, etc.” Herskovic has found her niche on the web. CollegeCandy.com has developed a cult following because it is currently the only site that is dedicated to college women. You have a glimpse of what her site is about and her refreshing sense of humour. Now, lets get her take on the world of jewelry.
What is your attitude towards jewelry?
I don’t leave the house without it. Ever.
What are your jewelry style secrets/philosophies?
I like to mix and match: expensive with costume, gold with silver, big pieces with tiny accents. My personal take on jewelry is choosing one accessory and going big. I’ll wear multiple bangles with minimal other pieces, or throw on a giant necklace and then pull back with everything else. When all else fails, I’ll always throw on a big ring. It adds instant glamour to every look.
What type of jewelry can you not live without?
What piece of jewelry do you think every woman should own and why?
Every woman should save up for a pair of diamond studs. This is a worthy investment because you can wear them dressy or casual, and they never go out of style.
What were some of your favorite pieces of jewelry from our website, Joolwe.com?
8k Gold Over Sterling Silver, Black Agate and Cubic Zirconia Ring (JPR-000019) - This ring mixes classic with trendy for the perfect addition to any outfit. It also happens to look mega expensive, which is always a good thing.
18k Gold Over Sterling Silver Brown Garden Bangle Bracelet (JPB-000111) - Bangles are fun and trendy and perfect accessories for a young woman. I think this bangle rocks because it is unique and can still be stacked with whatever other bangles someone may have in their jewelry box already.
Who is your style icon and why?
Jennifer Hudson because she dresses to accentuate her body and looks good no matter what she’s wearing.
What is the biggest mistake you have seen people make wearing jewelry?
Way. too. much. You should wear accessories, not let them wear you. If you want to do a headband, then lay off the earrings and necklace. Want to do a dangly earring? Don’t wear a matching necklace. If it feels like it’s too much, it’s too much.
